For scorekeepers

You're at the table in ten minutes.

Somebody handed you a tablet and walked away. Here is the whole job: three keys, a clock you cannot break, and one button that fixes a mistake.

The ScoreOps control board mid-bout: a running period clock, red and green score columns, the takedown, escape, reversal, near-fall and penalty buttons the table presses, and the running team score for the dual.
The board you will be looking at: the clock, both scores, and the buttons for what just happened.

Shortcuts

Three keys. That's the list.

Everything else is a button, because in a loud gym a wrong keystroke costs more than a wrong tap.

Space
Start / stop the clock
B
Buzzer
N
Next period, or into overtime
Esc
Close the dialog you just opened

Points go in on the buttons — takedown, escape, reversal, near fall, penalties — and a move that is not legal from the position you are in tells you why instead of doing nothing.

Score a standard bout

The clock

Refresh it. Nothing happens.

This is the thing worth knowing before the first whistle: the clock is not in your browser.

The server holds the time

It records when the clock started and how much was left. Your screen works out the rest.

So a reload is free

Refresh the page, close the lid, or pick up a different tablet. The running clock comes back correct.

And the gym agrees

The display on the wall and the board in your hands show the same second without talking to each other.

Mistakes

You will tap the wrong side. It is fine.

Every scorekeeper does it, usually in the first period.

  • Find the line in the scoring log and press Void. Press it again to confirm — and if you get distracted, it disarms itself.
  • The voided line stays, greyed and labelled, and the score is recomputed from what survives.
  • Nothing is ever deleted, so three weeks later the log still explains the score.
  • If the bout is already final, ask for a correction instead: the corrected result replaces the old one and the change is recorded.

Your link

If a coach sent you a link instead of adding you to the team, that is on purpose — and it is worth knowing what it does and does not get you.

It expires by itself

72 hours, then the server stops accepting it. There is no password to forget.

It can be pulled

A coach can revoke it sooner, and what was done through it is recorded against that link.

It can be one mat

At a tournament your link can be tied to a single mat. You score yours and nothing else.

It is only the board

It does not get you the roster, the weigh-in sheet or anything else in the workspace.

No clock

The bout already happened? Record it.

A forfeit, a mat that ran while you were looking elsewhere, a bout somebody kept on paper. You do not have to fake a clock to get it in.
  • Find the bout on your board and choose Record result.
  • Pick the winner and how: decision, major, tech fall or fall, with the score or the time.
  • It closes the bout, moves the team score and reaches the families following, exactly as a live one would.
  • A bout that already has a result cannot be recorded twice — that one needs a correction.
The tournament bout board: three mats side by side, each showing the bout on the mat now and the bouts on deck, with weight class and team for every wrestler.

Questions

Asked at the table.

What are the keyboard shortcuts on the scoring board?

Space starts and stops the clock. B sounds the buzzer. N moves to the next period — and, in a tied high school bout with the clock at zero, into sudden victory and the tiebreakers. Escape closes whatever dialog is open. Points are tapped on the buttons, not typed.

The tablet reloaded mid-bout. Did I lose the clock?

No. The clock is not kept in the browser: the server records when it started and how much time was left, and every screen works out the rest for itself. Reload the page, or open the board on a different device, and the running clock comes back where it should be.

I gave points to the wrong wrestler. How do I fix it?

Find the line in the scoring log and press Void. The first press arms it and the second does it. The voided line stays in the log, greyed out and labelled, and the score is recomputed from what is left. Nothing is deleted, so the log still explains the score afterwards.

How long does my table link last?

72 hours from when it was created. After that the server refuses it, whoever still has the address, and a coach can revoke it sooner. At a tournament, a link can be limited to one mat, so you can only record results on yours.

The bout was wrestled without the clock. Can I still record it?

Yes. Find the bout on the dual meet board, the tournament board or your table link and choose Record result: the winner, how they won, and the score or the fall time. It counts exactly like a bout scored live.

Practise on the real board. Right now.

The demo is the same control board, with a real clock and a real scoring log. Score a bout, void something, refresh the page.
