Add and import wrestlers

Build the roster once, by hand or from a spreadsheet, keep it up to date from the same file, and take wrestlers off when they leave.

Build your roster: add wrestlers or import a spreadsheet · 1:06, with captions. The teams and wrestlers in it are fictional.

Add one wrestler

  1. 1Open Roster.
  2. 2Choose Add wrestler.
  3. 3Enter the first and last name and the grade. Add a weight class if you know it.
  4. 4Add a Guardian email so a parent can follow results and answer for the wrestler. Add more adults under Other contacts.
  5. 5Choose Add wrestler. They're on this season's roster straight away.

Import a spreadsheet

  1. 1On Roster, choose Import CSV.
  2. 2Choose Download a template if you're starting fresh. The columns are First name, Last name, Grade, Weight class, Athlete email, Guardian email, Parent 2 name and Parent 2 email. Most exports from other systems work as they are.
  3. 3Choose Choose a CSV file. Every row is checked against the roster first and says Will add, Will update, Restore, Already here or Skip.
  4. 4To change wrestlers already on the roster too, tick Update wrestlers already on the roster. Rows match by ScoreOps ID, then by name, and each change has its own tick: untick anything that should stay. A blank cell never clears anything.
  5. 5A former wrestler the file names is offered back with Restore, not added twice.
  6. 6Choose the import button, which says what it will do (for example Add 12 · update 3). Nothing is written before you do.

Keep it up to date from a file

  1. 1Choose Export CSV on Roster. The file has each wrestler's ScoreOps ID and family contacts.
  2. 2Change it in Excel or Numbers and save it as CSV.
  3. 3Import it back with Update wrestlers already on the roster ticked, and check each change before you import.

Undo an import

Import CSV keeps your last import with Undo this import. It deletes the wrestlers that import added and puts back what it changed. Anyone with results since, and edits made after it, stay as they are.

Tidy up in bulk

  1. 1Tick several wrestlers to set a grade, move everyone up a grade, invite guardians or remove them together. On a phone, choose Select first.
  2. 2When wrestlers with no weight class have a weigh-in, Roster offers to set their classes from the last weigh-in.
  3. 3The same wrestler on the roster twice? Tick both records and choose Merge these 2.

When a wrestler leaves

  1. 1Choose Edit on the wrestler, then Remove at the foot of the form, and confirm.
  2. 2They move to Former wrestlers: off every lineup, with their results kept under their name.
  3. 3Restore, under Former wrestlers, puts them back.
  4. 4Delete for good is offered only for a record with no bouts, weigh-ins or entries. Anything with history stays a former wrestler.

Good to know

A Scorekeeper can add, edit and import wrestlers, but not family emails or contacts. Removing, merging, exporting and undoing an import are for the team's owners and admins.
An import never adds someone twice. Before adding a wrestler by hand, search the roster by first and last name and check you're in the right team.
